2014 Berry Bros. & Rudd Mosel Riesling Kabinett by Selbach-Oster

This exhilaratingly light, off-dry Riesling Kabinett comes from the heart of the Middle Mosel, home to this noble grape. The historic Selbach family of Zeltingen has drawn on the river Mosel’s flaky, grey slate to conjure up a brilliantly intense and breezy Riesling. 2014 did not have the extraordinary October weather of 2013 and is very much a Kabinett year: cool, crisp wines with a fine line of minerality. The vintage can be rated as one of the best in this category of the past decade, with good ripeness, excellent acidity and fine, classic aromas of slate and citrus.

2016 Berry Bros. & Rudd Extra Ordinary White by Ch. Villa Bel-Air

Our white Graves is bottled for us by Famille JM Cazes. The quality of the 2016 vintage is evident on the nose, which shows pronounced white peach and melon aromas. The palate shows a wonderful balance of ripe citrus fruit, with a crisp, refreshing finish which is the hallmark of the Graves. The pure, dry finish means this would be perfect with seafood, but its marked complexity will stand up to far richer dishes as well.

2016 Berry Bros. & Rudd Sancerre by Domaine David Sautereau

David Sautereau has defied the challenging 2016 vintage with this outstanding wine, a magnificent weave of Sancerre's ancient soils. A flinty grip lends to tension and backbone to a beautifully concentrated mid-palate, which rejoices in fresh, cool, green fruit, followed by a gently leafy and evocative finish.

A blend from six excellent vineyard sites in the villages of Chaintré and Vergisson, Olivier Merlin has once again worked his magic, producing a wonderful Pouilly-Fuissé. 2015 Berry Bros. & Rudd Good Ordinary Claret

Our best-selling wine for many decades, GOC, as it is known, brilliantly highlights the sheer drinkability of modern red Bordeaux. Bright, medium ruby in colour, with a siren-like nose of black cherries, bramble fruit and wood smoke, it is instantly appealing. The palate follows through with delicious black fruit and a long, velvety finish.

2016 Berry Bros. & Rudd Australian Shiraz by Elderton

The 2016 vintage was superb in the Barossa Valley, enabling Elderton to include 30 percent fruit from the family's prized Greenock vineyard in this special blend. The wine has an enticing nose of blackberries and warm plummy fruit, lifted by an appealing freshness. Soft, supple red and black fruit envelops the palate, while the tannins are smooth and fine.

2015 Berry Bros. & Rudd New Zealand Pinot Noir by Greystone Wines

Greystone Vineyards in North Canterbury (previously known as Waipara) continue to excel, once again making this lovely Pinot Noir for us. The 2015 is rich with notes of sweet, dark cherries, yet all is counterbalanced by an herbaceous freshness. There is impressive depth and structure to this wine, reflecting the warmer conditions of the vintage, but it retains the appealing savoury complexity of its predecessor. This is an intriguing, rewarding Pinot Noir to sink into.

2014 Berry Bros. & Rudd Extra Ordinary Claret by Ch. Villa Bel-Air

Since its first vintage in 2002, “EOC”, as it is known, has become one of our best-selling wines. The fruit for this Claret comes from a beautiful Graves estate belonging to the JM Cazes family, one of the great names in Bordeaux. Merlot dominates the nose, with heady, cherry-laden fruit and sweet, dark chocolate aromas. Cabernet comes through more on the palate, with blackcurrant and cedar wood much more to the fore. There is structure and weight here, but all wrapped in a very drinkable, traditional style. Drink now, with roast lamb, beef and mature hard cheeses.

2015 Berry Bros. & Rudd Margaux by Ch. du Tertre

From the super 2015 vintage, our own Margaux this year is a selection of fruit from younger vines at Ch. du Tertre. The nose is warm and inviting, with notes of damson, blackberry, and a trace of vanilla from a year spent in oak barrels. The palate is unmistakably Margaux - delicious, plump fruit and a seamless, silky texture on the finish. A classic, elegant example of this majestic region, drink now and over the next year or two.
